Who we are
VOCAB-80 is made by Nada Kari, a sound practitioner and partner of Play North West CIC, and published by Play North West CIC. We are a Community Interest Company registered in England & Wales (Company No. 15796794), registered office 9 Old Lane, Eccleston Park, Prescot, L34 2RE.
What VOCAB-80 collects
Nothing. The app has no account or sign-in, no adverts, no analytics and no tracking, and it doesn’t connect to the internet to send us information. We can’t see who uses VOCAB-80 or how.
The microphone
VOCAB-80 only plays sound until you choose the Vocoder voice. Only then does it ask to use the microphone, so it can shape your own voice as you sing or talk. That sound is processed on your device as you play. It isn’t recorded unless you press REC, and it is never sent to us or anyone else.
Every other voice works without the microphone. You can turn microphone access on or off at any time in your iPhone or iPad’s Settings, under Privacy & Security → Microphone.
What stays on your device
Your settings, the presets you save and the recordings you make are stored only on your device, inside the app. Deleting VOCAB-80 deletes them.
A recording leaves your device only when you choose to share or save it somewhere, for example to Files, by AirDrop or to another app. What happens to it then is up to you and the app or service you choose.
When you use VOCAB-80 as an Audio Unit inside another app, such as GarageBand, its settings are saved inside that app’s project.
Buying the unlock
Apple processes the £1.99 unlock through the App Store. We don’t receive your name, Apple ID or payment details. Apple only tells the app whether the unlock has been bought, so it can switch the extra features on. Apple’s privacy policy covers the purchase itself.
Children
VOCAB-80 is rated 4+. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
If you contact us
If you email us for help, we use your email address and what you tell us only to reply. We look after it as described in our main privacy policy.
Your rights
We hold no data from the app itself, so there’s nothing from VOCAB-80 for us to give you, correct or delete. You can still ask us anything about your privacy at hello@playnorthwestcic.com. If you’re unhappy with how we handle personal information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how VOCAB-80 handles information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the app.
